For me the grid has never shown, even before the merge.

I suppose the grid is supposed to show when the user is moving something around? I'll look into it tomorrow.

Apperantly you should be able to change the outlines when moving cards around, my initial explaination was not very clear. Its actually like trails following the cards, which give the user some feedback on where the grids are. There is a related change to this which was merged.
